Terms & Conditions
Last updated 22 August 2026. These terms govern your use of motiontransport.ca and the moving services provided by Motion Transport Inc. Please read them before booking. Your signed estimate or bill of lading, together with these terms, forms the agreement between us; where the two differ, the signed document governs.
Quotes and estimates
Quotes are based on the inventory, addresses, access conditions and dates you give us, usually confirmed by a video-call assessment. A quote is valid for 30 days. If the actual shipment differs from what was quoted — additional items, a heavier load, stairs or a long carry that was not disclosed, a shuttle required because a tractor-trailer cannot reach the address — the price will be adjusted and we will tell you before proceeding.
Weight-based pricing is confirmed by certified scale where applicable.
Booking, deposits and payment
A deposit confirms your date and is applied to the final balance. Unless your written estimate says otherwise, the balance is due on delivery, before unloading. We accept the payment methods shown at checkout; card payments are processed by Stripe.
Deposits are refundable in full if you cancel more than 14 days before the scheduled pickup date. Inside 14 days the deposit is retained to cover the reserved capacity, unless we are able to re-book the slot.
Dates, windows and delays
Long-distance and cross-border moves are quoted with a pickup window and a delivery window, not a guaranteed single date. We will keep you informed of the schedule. We are not liable for delays caused by weather, road closures, mechanical failure, customs inspection, or any other cause beyond our reasonable control, but we will always tell you promptly and re-plan with you.
Cross-border shipments
For moves between Canada and the United States you must provide accurate documentation and a truthful inventory, and you are responsible for the accuracy of what you declare. Customs authorities may inspect, hold or refuse a shipment. Any duties, taxes, inspection fees or storage charges levied by an authority are your responsibility unless our written quote states that they are included.
Certain goods cannot cross the border, including firearms and ammunition, alcohol above personal limits, cannabis, live plants, perishable food and hazardous materials. Do not include them in your shipment.
What you must not ship
Do not include cash, jewellery, securities, passports, prescription medication, irreplaceable documents, or items of extraordinary sentimental value. Carry those with you. We do not accept liability for such items if they are packed into the shipment.
Liability and protection
Basic carrier liability is included and is set by the applicable provincial or federal tariff, calculated by weight rather than by the value of the article. That basic level will not fully replace a valuable item. Additional valuation coverage is available and must be arranged in writing before pickup. Claims must be made in writing within the period stated on your bill of lading, and items must be available for inspection.
We are not liable for damage to particleboard or self-assembled furniture that is moved assembled, for items packed by you where the carton shows no external damage, or for pre-existing wear.
Access, parking and property
You are responsible for arranging building access, elevator reservations and legal parking at both ends. Where a permit or reservation is not in place and this causes waiting time or a shuttle, additional charges apply. Please tell us in advance about narrow driveways, low branches, weight-restricted roads and gated communities.
Use of this website
The content of this site, including text, images, layout and the Motion Transport name and marks, belongs to Motion Transport Inc. and may not be copied or reproduced without permission. You agree not to misuse the site, attempt to gain unauthorised access, or submit false information through our forms. Route pages, transit estimates and pricing examples are provided for guidance and are not offers.
Communications and consent
By submitting a form or giving us your number, you consent to being contacted about your enquiry by email, telephone and SMS. You may withdraw consent to marketing messages at any time by replying STOP or writing to us; we will still contact you about a move that is under way.
Recorded calls
If you telephone us by tapping the call button on a Google advertisement, Google may record a small sample of those calls for quality assurance and fraud prevention. You will hear an announcement before any such call begins, and you may end the call at that point if you would prefer not to be recorded — you can reach us instead by dialling our number directly, by email, or through the quote form on this site, none of which are recorded in that way. The recordings are made and retained by Google under its own privacy policy; we do not receive, store or listen to them. Further detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of the judicial district of Montréal have jurisdiction, subject to any consumer-protection right you have to bring proceedings where you live.
